Four Lawyers, Four Experiences
Tan-Tar-A Resort - Osage Beach
Let’s put it out in the open – times are tougher these days with the country’s economic downturn. It’s affected us all – some more than others. There is little doubt that most solo and small firm practitioners have particularly felt the pinch. Solo and small firm lawyers are known for their “toughness” and resilience to survive in the midst of challenges. This is all the more reason for solos and small firm lawyers to “shake off the blues,” come together, and rally around each other at the 14th Annual Solo and Small Firm Conference being held June 11-13, 2009 at Tan-Tar-A Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Slower times can be opportunities in disguise that can be taken to “jazz up your law practice” so you come through the harder times ready to go when things pick up. We’ll have the speakers who are equipped with strategies and information to perfect your trade and skill as a lawyer, hone your law practice systems, improve your technology skills, as well as providing moral support when you feel like quitting or are having trouble overcoming personal and professional setbacks. Additionally, we’ll have an exhibit hall filled with sponsors and exhibitors offering show discounts on goods and services to benefit your practice.
At this year’s event we’re taking the economic woes head on. Dustin Cole, a solo and small law firm legal management expert, will be a featured plenary session speaker who will come armed with tips for you to help your practice survive and even thrive during this time. Memory expert, Paul Mellor will guide you through making your case with a better memory. Other technology and legal management experts will be on hand equipped with knowledge to help you maintain your client base and find new clients in troubling times. The starting a law practice boot camp will be offered for those who are venturing out in solo practice or those who want to work on making their practice even better. The litigation track/trial college features new programs and speakers to perfect trial practice skills. All in all, you’ll have your choice of over 80 programs, discussion groups, and computer labs offered in convenient track programming.
This year's programming will begin earlier on Thursday morning and conclude on Saturday after lunch so you’ll be able to arrive home earlier or have more time with family and friends to spend the balance of the weekend at the lake.
The Solo and Small Firm Conference has always been an economic bargain loaded with high-quality educational and networking opportunities. This is an important event to attend in good times, but a must-attend during tougher times.
- You’ll be able to earn all your MCLE credits for this reporting year at one time in one location;
- You won’t find a better CLE bargain. Register early to take advantage of the lowest registration fees. Can you beat a $229 registration fee for a two and a half day event that includes your meal tickets and entertainment?
- Lower priced hotel options during peak season at the Lake have been negotiated for this year’s event;
- You’ll have lots of opportunities to make contacts, exchange ideas, and interact with other small firm lawyers to build referral and support systems;
- Bring your family for a fun, low cost vacation in Missouri’s favorite resort area.
Fun and relaxation are important to raising your spirits and are a key part of the Solo and Small Firm Conference. Fun events this year include: golfing on Tan-Tar-A’s beautiful golf course; attending the jazz and barbeque night on the deck overlooking the lake; taking a cruise on the lake; and meeting up with old friends and making new friends during the many receptions. Enjoy the antics of Elwood and Joliet Jake with the Blues Brothers Tribute after dinner on Friday evening, followed by dancing the blues away to the Blues Brothers Tribute band.
Luck will turn around for many of the conference attendees as they claim one of the many prizes given away during the conference. One very lucky winner will be able to leave their troubles behind as they claim the grand prize vacation.
So, shake off those blues and jazz your way to the Lake of the Ozarks on June 11-13, 2009 to join forces with your fellow solo and small firm lawyers from all over the state. You’re sure to leave with a brighter and more positive outlook for improving times. We’ll look for you there!
