10:00 - New Family Law Resolution Concepts that May Reshape Missouri’s Family Law Courts
The 25th Judicial Circuit will present a series of short videos on innovative concepts that assist family law litigants in reaching amicable resolutions without court trials. Connecticut’s Special Master’s Program, Florida’s Assisted Custody Transition (ACT) Program, and the Parenting Coordinator Concept in use in about 10 states will be featured. Also, featured will be promising, homegrown Show-Me state innovations including Missouri’s M.A.R.C.H. (Mediation Achieving Results for Children) Program, the Transition Youth Initiative (T.Y.I.), and the 25th’s TAG (Transportation Assistance Grant) Program.

10:30 - Liability and Damages in Trucking Cases: A Brief Introduction
Accidents involving large commercial trucks are not simply personal injury cases. They also involve issues related to specific laws and regulations governing safety, the violation of which often results in tragic and deadly accidents. This session will introduce attendees to the federal/state laws and regulations governing vehicles engaged in interstate commerce, the common factors contributing to accidents, the types of injuries suffered and the damages that can be awarded, if a defendant is found liable. This includes economic, non-economic losses, aggravation of pre-existing conditions and punitive damages.
