About This Book

Owners and operators of real property are generally responsible for contamination at the property, regardless of when or by whom the contamination was caused. This book begins with a chapter that summarizes federal and Missouri environmental laws that may be implicated in a sale or lease of commercial or industrial property, discusses how environmental issues can be identified and assessed during real estate transactions, and provides recommendations for preparing documents for the transfer of commercial or industrial properties. The second chapter covers the expanding body of federal regulations applicable to real estate transactions. The ongoing financial and real estate crisis has brought on increased scrutiny, and enforcement actions are rising. The chapter covers disclosure requirements, RESPA, FTC issues, civil rights issues, the ADA, and more. The electronic versions include sample forms in word-processing format.

This publication is an updated version of the work that originally appeared as two chapters in the MoBarCLE deskbook Missouri Real Estate Practice. To make the information on this important topic more widely available, MoBarCLE is publishing this information in a stand-alone book. These guidebooks are available in a choice of formats: softbound print book, CD-ROM, or download. The electronic versions include sample forms in word-processing format. Purchasers can buy both the print and an electronic version for a discounted price. Order yours today!
