Teaching Controversial Issues
CURRENTLY THERE ARE NO WORKSHOPS SHEDULED FOR TEACHING CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES.
Annually, The Missouri Bar Citizenship Education program sponsors a two-day controversial issues workshop in conjunction with the Constitutional Rights Foundation. The workshop is designed to assist educators with teaching controversial issues without becoming the center of a controversy. The Circle Study, The Civic Mission of Schools, identified the teaching of current events and controversial issues to be one of the six effective forms of civic education. This program provides methods and resources for effectively incorporating current events and controversial issues in a variety of social studies settings. The program is usually held in the spring and program dates are posted as soon as they are available
